It's interesting that I have similar experience with groups shooting the King Cobra,and Pythons with 6 inch barrel as well as 4 in barrels in Colt model 357,Trooper,S&W model 66,and Ruger Security six. I have shot 3/4 inch groups up to 2 1/2inch groups with all of the above including the Pythons.

King cobra now that they make the python in a 3 inch is fairly similar, however I would say the KC is more of a carry gun, python is more of a range gun. It has better sights then the KC, and more then likely a solid frame. Both great guns, but for me if I chose a python I’d get the 4.25 inch barrel instead of the 3 inch

The King Cobra has a much shorter (and stiffer!) double-action pull than the Python. The KC is what Colt called a MK V action and they made a few Troopers featuring this action before they came out with the King. We bought the one in my safe for my wife from the original run back in the early '90s.686 has larger frame than King Cobra. It's not a direct comparison. The 686 is comparable to the Colt Python. I bought both a Python and King Cobra Target model last year with MOB's stimulus $. Amazingly, the Cobra has the better trigger. The Python is pretty heavy, nearing 50 Oz.
