It was very static-ish and I did some research and found that some people use this at NASCAR races. Baofeng scanning is very slow--about 3 channels per second, so there is no reason to try to use it as a scanner. (A Uniden scanner can scan 80 channels per second.) DSD+ is much better for scanning. You may be able to monitor Tier II DMR from a repeater, but the DM-5R will not transmit Tier II correctly.
